When families undergo major transitions like divorce or separation, determining the best path forward for the children can be emotionally exhausting and legally complex. When parents cannot reach an agreement on timesharing or parental responsibility, the court or family law attorneys may request an independent, third-party Social Investigation.

- Evidence-Based Recommendations: Delivering a comprehensive, professional report directly to the court or attorneys, outlining clear, actionable recommendations for parenting plans and timesharing that strictly prioritize the child’s best interests.

Reunification Therapy
After a prolonged separation, intense family conflict, or high-conflict divorce, repairing the bond between a parent and child requires a structured, safe, and expert approach. When a child has become estranged or alienated from a parent, simple visitation isn't always enough to heal the rift. At McCallister Family Counseling, we provide specialized, court-ordered and attorney-referred Reunification Therapy designed to safely rebuild strained family connections and restore healthy parent-child relationships.
Our clinically structured reunification process prioritizes the emotional safety of the child while systematically working toward healing through:
- Parallel Preparation & Assessment: Working individually with both the preferred parent and the estranged parent first to assess readiness, set firm therapeutic goals, and address underlying parental anxieties or conflicts.
- Child-Centered Pace: Preparing the child individually to ensure they feel safe, heard, and supported before any joint sessions take place, allowing the reunification to progress at a pace that protects the child's emotional well-being.
- Structured Joint Sessions: Guiding family sessions in a highly monitored, neutral environment focused on repairing communication breakdowns, clearing up past misunderstandings, and building new, positive memories together.
- Co-Parenting Accountability: Partnering with both parents to ensure adult conflicts are kept out of the child’s space, establishing consistent home rules, and supporting compliance with court-mandated parenting plans.
